Holiday Gala: Meet and Greet for a Good Cause

Have you met some new friends while playing Evergreen pickleball? The answer is almost guaranteed to be yes. If so, come on over to The Wild Game two weeks from tonight for the 2023 Holiday Gala and Benefit. It will be three or four months before the next club social event, so don’t miss this chance to socialize with the people you’ve connected with on the court.

It’s for a good cause. Proceeds from the Gala and Benefit will go directly to Evergreen Christian Outreach, which assists residents of our community with emergency cold weather shelter, meals, mental health and substance use referrals, energy/heat assistance and much more.

No registration or RSVP is needed to attend the Gala. A $15 donation at the door (payable in cash or check to EChO) will benefit the outreach program and get you a free wine, beer or well drink. Or you can contribute any amount you’d like. Attendees must have an EPC membership, but their very welcome spouses and guests need not.

The Holiday Gala will take place Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at The Wild Game in Bergen Park. “The Wild Game provides a space that is large enough for our growing membership at an affordable price,” EPC social director Cherie Peterson said. There will be a cash bar and the bar menu will be available.

Evergreen Pickleball Club is not the cozy group it was when first formed in 2016, let alone the small huddle that brought pickleball to EPRD in 2011. Yes, Wulf hosted pickleball all the way back in 2011—our mountain town was the site of one of the first 20 programs in Colorado. We’re growing, but members still have a lot to talk about and money to raise for a good cause.

Nominating Committee Seeks More Board Candidates

We are still looking for other members that would be interested in being on the EPC Board.  John Dunlop, board secretary, said the Nominating Committee would like to have another candidate or two to give members more choices. There are currently three candidates for three open positions.

John would be happy to talk with anyone who is interested in running and will answer any questions you may have.

Board members will be elected or re-elected at the annual EPC General Membership Meeting Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at Wulf.
