Marshdale Courts Suffer Extensive Damage

Sometime between Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning, a person or persons unknown took it upon themselves to attempt to clear Marshdale courts 3 and 4.

Snow Angels Capt. Monte Poague reports, “They evidently used a metal-edged tool/shovel and rock salt. Aargh! Wherever there was a water bubble, and there are plenty, they basically ripped off the court coating, exposing the asphalt below. There is also rock salt all over the courts. So, not only is there still snow and ice on the courts, now we have to clear off the salt and debris from this brutal assault.”

Monte and two Snow Angels, Linda Jacobsen and Leonor Lessard, sprang into action Sunday morning to clear the mess off courts 3 and 4. They are “playable,” but not very. Court 2 is clear of snow and undamaged.

”People, this is not how we do it,” Monte said. “The Snow Angels are efficient and kind to the courts. We have special shovels that don’t damage the surface and we never, ever use salt.  Besides leaving a mess, the salt runoff will kill the surrounding vegetation.

“So, the next time you decide to help and go it alone . . . don’t. If you want to help clear the courts for play, join the Snow Angels. To get on the email list send your name to Monte Poague and be part of our merry band.”

Save the Date

The annual Evergreen Pickleball Club Spring Social will be held Wednesday, May 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Wild Game in Bergen Park. More details to come.

Exciting New Branded Gear Hits EPC Store

Great news, Evergreen pickleballers! Jim Mosby has selected and stocked several new items in the EPC store.

There are men’s and women’s Colorblock soft shell jackets with a warm fleece inner lining that will keep you nice and warm for those chilly late fall, winter and early spring days. They also have zipped pockets on either side.

The men’s jackets come in two color schemes, black base with imperial blue under arm lining and dress blue navy with battleship gray under the arms. The ladies jackets are battleship gray with dark rose under the arm and black with imperial blue under the arms.

Next on the list is a 15-inch expandable laptop backpack in which you can place all of your pickleball gear, multiple paddles and balls, with side pockets for water bottles, towels, wallets, phones, etc. It also has a special strap on the back that fits over a suitcase handle. They come in three colors—navy, gray and black.

Last but not least are EPC beanies that will keep your head nice and warm during those Evergreen winter days. They come in five different colors—maroon, navy, athletic green, olive drab green and orange.

We have many other items for sale in the EPC Store, including T-shirts, hats, puffer vests and towels, to name a few. All the items make great gifts for non-pickleballers too.
The club makes a small profit from these sales, which in turn provides funding for some of the activities the club sponsors.
