Mixed Doubles will wrap up 2025 EPC tournament season
Gig Blitz
Registration is open for the EPC Mixed Doubles Tournament Saturday, Sept. 13, at Marshdale. This will be the sixth and final tournament of the year organized by Evergreen Pickleball Club.
It’s sad but true that this will also be the last tournament Mick Pearce will direct for our club. Pretty much everyone agrees that he has done a stellar job and it won’t be the same without him. But life changes are calling, and he and wife Peggy will be moving out of Evergreen in the spring. I am informed that there is nothing I can do about it.
Once again, Mixed Doubles is sponsored by Realtor Gig Blitz, who has contributed thousands of dollars to the club this year. We very much appreciate her support of this tournament and the annual Spring Fling social event. She’s the one to call if you’re looking to buy or sell real estate.
Mixed Doubles teams must have a male player and a female player, in case you’re not clear on that. The cost is $70 per team for this double-elimination event and players must have an EPC membership. If it’s half as exciting and well played as Men’s Doubles a week ago, you don’t want to miss it.
If you don’t have a partner, indicate that on your entry form and we’ll try to match you up with someone of similar skill level. (Players indicate their skill level on the entry form.) If we can’t find you a partner, your $70 entry fee will be refunded.
If you are inclined to volunteer as a scorekeeper or to offer any other assistance at the tournament, let Mick know. If you do serve as a scorekeeper, please don’t let anyone erase the filled-in brackets until they have been photographed for journalistic purposes.
John Dunlop and Jeri Herskovits brought the glam for Mixed Doubles two years ago on the old Marshdale courts.
