Club 45 Round Robin

A quick reminder: If you haven’t yet filled out the member survey, you can do so here.

The Club 45 Round Robin took place Friday, February 20th. Fun was had by all, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat made appearances, and Roger Miles pulled off a near perfect first tournament. Thanks to Roger for the lion share of work, Jerri Beth for cat wrangling and most of the photos, Kathy Fasold for score keeping, yours truly for software assistance, Kathy Kincannon for feeding us all, Valerie and Kirk McVay for managing the merchandise table, Club 45 for hosting, the top secret seeding committee, and to all the players that showed up on time to partake in what was a fun-filled day. Apologies to anyone I missed.

Victors for the day and new owners of a swanky luggage tag were Linda Strauss, Rich Remington, Todd Landrum, Pat Bixenman, Scott Naegel, Julie Ann Courim, Claudia Lennox (with a perfect!), Danny Hudak, and Gil Cardenas (another perfect!). You can see all the scores for the day at this link.

And now for the pictures (apologies for the lack of cropping, ain’t nobody got time for that)…

Group 1 was Jim Stafford, Gig Blitz, Linda Strauss, and Chris Courim with Linda eeking out a 1 point victory over Gig to be overall champion.

Group 2 was Rich Remington, Jim Mosby, Giuliano Hofling, and Kathryn Cook. Rich walked away with the coveted luggage tag.

Group 3 was Kolleen Qualls, Erich Meyer, Todd Landrum, and Dave Young. In a surprise to nearly everyone, I won.

Group 4 was Gary Euliss, board president Bob Kerr, newcomer Chris Gardner, and Pat Bixenman. Pat got the victory which explains the smile.

Group 5 was Diane Morton, Nancy Hughes, Julie Ann Courim, and Scott Naegel. Julie Ann was victorious.

Group 5 - apparently requesting no closeups - was Claudia Lennox with the aforementioned perfect game, Chad Flesche, Jennifer Nunn, and Erik Askelson.

Danny Hudak, Megan McClintock, Elizabeth Barnum, Bill Aubin comprised group 7. Danny won both the group and the unofficial Most Enthusiastic Player award.

Group 8 had Joann Rouillard as an injury substitution, Gil Cardenas, Jean Buzzard, and Sarah Bryan. Gil dominated with a perfect game.

Pat Bixenman and Gig Blitz showing us how tournament professionals roll.

The bubble was a wee bit chilly first thing in the morning.

Kathy Kincannon and assistants delivered a delicious mid-tournament snack.

Valerie McVay and lugger-of-boxes Kirk plot how to clear out the merchandise so they don’t have to take it home.

Jim Stafford lays down a shot I assume is called “the King Kong”. Gig Blitz looks on.

Jim Mosby with an acrobatic maximum effort.

Kathryn Cook gets low while Guiliano is distracted by the photographer.

Gary Euliss makes use of his excessive reach. Pat Bixenman looks on. Guiliano Hofling and Chris Courim have a statue competition in the background.

Bob Kerr getting ready to dive for a ball. Chris Gardner is unimpressed.

Erich Meyer steps in front of a ball that is clearly mine.

Chad Flesche smacks one back while Jennifer Nunn stays focused.

Jim Stafford and Claudia Lennox display two different ready positions.

Diane Morton directs an airplane to it’s gate while Scott Naegel waits to unload bags.

Meagan McClintock calls “Yours!” as Bill Aublin rushes in to make the play.

Elizabeth Barnum and Danny Hudak providing a good action shot. Diane Morton looks on in complete disgust at an out call made by her opponents.

I leave it up to you to caption this last picture of Nancy Hughes and Julie Ann Courim.
