Unless someone else would really like to take over this position, I will be more than happy to throw my hat into the ring to run for a second 3-year board member term. Hopefully, again, as treasurer.

I was born and raised in the suburban Denver area. I have lived in Evergreen for 15 years. My professional expertise and experience over the last 40 years was in a variety of roles, including, but not limited to, management, finance and accounting, operations, sales, marketing and engineering; primarily in the oil and gas industry.

I have an Associates in Engineering Technology, a BA in Business and BS in Accounting. I am now retired but along with being treasurer for EPC, I enjoy golf, pickleball activities, hiking, traveling etc.

Having been asked by our president what I think qualities are desired for being a good board member, I believe one should: focus on listening, ask the “naïve” questions, serve as a good-will ambassador for the organization.

Working in the finance departments of the oil industry, I enjoyed creating and maintaining operating and management structures. As EPC treasurer, I tried to focus on what the board needed. I brought the books and records up to operating standards by recreating the available records from 2017 into a cohesive understanding from cash in/cash out to constructive financials and workable budgets.

During my years on the EPC board, we as a team began to focus more on what EPC could do for our members to improve our position with the recreation district, fairness in getting proper access to courts, search for and obtain more access to more courts, improvements on our outside courts. We also focused more on spreading the word about our organization, volunteering with kids’ programs, assisting to better improve the organization of tournaments, as well as our fun socials on and off the courts.

I am proud of the board members we currently have and regret seeing any of them go.However, I am positive that future members will be just as dedicated.

If elected to the board, I would also like to continue to act as a trustee of the organization’s assets and exercise due diligence and oversight to ensure that the organization is well managed and that its financial situation remains sound.

Thank you for your consideration.

Kathy Kincannon

I worked for Southwest Airlines for 42 years as a flight attendant. I also worked for my sister-in-law‘s business as an event planner for over 10 years.I retired four years ago from the airline, then started working for Diana  Dargan at Sisters & Company boutique in downtown Evergreen.

All my friends think I’m crazy to run for the social director of EPC. It’s a lot of hard work and over the years our club has grown, with more tournaments and special events. It’s a lot to take on, but I must say I have dear friends that have helped me out to make all these special events happen for EPC.

Please make sure you buy your EPC Holiday Gala tickets on the EPC website very soon as our deadline is fast approaching. Bring your friends!

When I was 6 years old, Grandma Dorothy got me a notebook and pen for Christmas. It was her dream that I be a board secretary and it quickly became my dream. Every dinner I'd bring my notebook and pen to the table and practice taking down notes of all that transpired. Someday, I'd get the call and I wanted to be ready.

College and a couple years in corporate America went by without any opportunity to be a board secretary. Then I was a ski bum and was surprised to learn that boards don’t really want ski bums.

While an at-home dad, I formed a board, but we never had quorum because my wife and two daughters refused to attend. I was a self-employed computer programmer, but never got around to forming my own board. I was in the Lakewood High School PTA for five years, president for two, but Doris was secretary that entire time and I was never able to unseat her. I hate Doris to this day.

I did some programming for Evergreen Ladder in hopes of being promoted to board secretary, only to learn that Ladder does not have a secretary or even a board.

Sadly, Grandma Dorothy passed without my ever being a board secretary.

What would I bring to the board? For starters, a pen and a notebook. Unfortunately not the ones Grandma gave me long ago. I can type and know how to use email so I can get the minutes out. I'm conflict-averse and a people pleaser, so I can be easily bullied by the other board members into taking on extra responsibilities.

In corporate America I got a $25 Applebee’s gift certificate for perfect attendance, so I'm dependable. I'm good for at least one unhelpful smart-ass comment per board meeting. I'm an introvert though, so I'm out if the board meetings are particularly well attended.

In conclusion, don't vote for me to be board secretary because I'm a great guy, well qualified and have a wicked spin serve. Grandma Dorothy was too kind to say so, but I know I was a huge disappointment to her. Vote for me so that Grandma Dorothy's dream will finally be realized and I can stop going to therapy.

Hi, everyone! I’m excited for the opportunity to serve on the Evergreen Pickleball Club board and manage EPC gear. Pickleball has become one of my favorite activities—it’s the perfect mix of movement, fun and community, and that’s what I’d love to help grow within our club, focusing on a few key areas:

• Member driven merchandise—getting feedback from players on what types of apparel and gear they’d actually love to wear and use, so our merchandise reflects our club’s fun spirit.

• Mentorship for new players—creating a welcoming program to help beginners feel comfortable joining games and learning about all our club activities.

• Community connections—finding fun ways to represent EPC at local events.

I bring experience from years of serving on boards and committees for clubs and charity events, including my current role as recording officer for the Colorado Airstream Club. I enjoy collaborating with others, organizing events and finding creative ways to bring people together.

My husband, Kirk, and I moved to Evergreen from Florida in 2018 to be closer to our two daughters and now three grandchildren. We’re both retired chiropractors and both our daughters (and one son-in-law) are active chiropractors as well. When I’m not playing pickleball, you’ll find me cycling, hiking or exploring in our Airstream with our sweet golden, Zoe.

I’d love the opportunity to give back to this wonderful club and help it continue to grow!
