Round Robin registration opens Saturday

The beautiful new courts at Marshdale Park will be the site of our first tournament of the summer. Starting Saturday at 12:01 a.m., up to 48 EPC members may register to play in the June 7 Round Robin.

Players will be placed in groups of eight based on skill level, rotating through a set of seven games, play to 11 win by one.

EPC tournament director Mick Pearce said registration for each of our six summer tournaments will open two weeks before the tournament date. Registration is through the EPC website only. Players must have an EPC membership.

If you don’t plan to play, volunteers are eagerly welcomed, especially scorekeepers. Contact Mick Pearce to let him know how you can help put on another successful tournament.

A note from our maintenance and equipment director

“A week after the release of this newsletter, the Lost and Found box, which is full, will be emptied, all items going down to Wulf’s lost and found and eventually to EChO,” Monte Poague said. “There are numerous items in it from last year. Please check it for anything that might be yours.

“Also, after rummaging around in box, PLEASE latch the lid back on so we don’t lose it to the wind. Thanks. Box is located on west side of equipment shed.

Grouper sponsors free clinic

Grouper, which provides eligible members with no-cost access to a network of group activities, offered a free two-hour pickleball clinic at 3rd Shot Pickleball in Arvada May 6.

EPCers Mike and Karen Moore, Patty Alberga and Debbie Marshall were part of a group treated to expert individual instruction from Jennifer Lucore, a Pickleball Hall of Famer and past National Champion. Linda Jacobsen and Corinne Jackson, also members of EPC, helped Jennifer with instruction.

Gotta say, this was a very valuable benefit that cost participants nothing. Grouper does not work with or through Evergreen Pickleball Club or other clubs anymore, it directly benefits those who are eligible through their health insurance plans.
