News flash: RR registration opens in a few hours

I hope EPC webmaster Jim Hunsaker has a timer set, because he definitely needs his beauty sleep. Timer or no, he will enable registration for the inaugural 2025 EPC tournament at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, May 24. The signup link will go live then, and not one second before. Cost is $35.

You must be a member of Evergreen Pickleball Club to register, but people from all over the area and down the hill find it worthwhile to pony up the $20 annual fee for the right to play a well-run tournament in the truly awesome setting of Marshdale Park. (And for lots of other reasons too.) The membership link is live now and always. Thank you.

Oh yeah, the tournament is a round robin, with players placed in groups of eight based on skill level, rotating through a set of seven games, play to 11 win by one. Up to 48 players can be accommodated on Marshdale’s eight courts. Prizes will be awarded.

Spectators are welcome and encouraged. Bring a chair; seating is outside the courts. The windscreens may make it a bit hard to see, but the camaraderie is worth it.

If you don’t plan to play, volunteers are eagerly welcomed, especially scorekeepers. Contact EPC tournament director Mick Pearce to let him know how you can help put on another great EPC tournament.

Doc Jim Mosby will be in the tent with EPC-branded gear and social director Kathy Kincannon will set up her fantastic food spread in the pavilion.

Jim Hunsaker keeps score at the Geezer Games at Marshdale last year. Mount Vernon Canyon Club was a great host for the Round Robin in 2024, but it’s wonderful to be back at Marshdale this year.
