Ready, set . . . Women’s Doubles

Registration is open for the annual EPC Women’s Doubles Tournament at Marshdale Saturday, Aug. 2. The registration link actually went live a couple days early “due to a brain fart that I had,” tournament director Mick Pearce admitted. Gotta give you credit for modeling accountability, Mick.

Seven extremely fun teams have already signed up and the max is 24 (fun or not), so don’t dillydally around and get left out. Players must register as pairs. If you don’t yet have someone to play with, check the “I need a partner” box on your registration form and we’ll match you up. Trust me, you are not the only one who is reluctant to ask someone to play with you.

The double-elimination contest is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Top finishers in the winners bracket will battle the best in the losers bracket for the championship, the prizes and the fame.

A $20 EPC membership is required; the tournament fee is $35 per player. The registration deadline is midnight Wednesday, July 30.

If you’d like to volunteer for the powerful job of scorekeeper, email Mick.

Sisters & Company boutique in downtown Evergreen is once again sponsoring our Women’s Doubles tournament. Thank you!

EPC board will meet at Mount Vernon

Board member Travis Ervick is hosting the EPC board at Mount Vernon Canyon Club on Tuesday, July 22, at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is open to EPC members in good standing (you paid your 2025 dues), but we have to admit there is very little seating for audience members in the MVCC board room. Plans are to revert to Evergreen Library for the next EPC board meeting in October.

Mount Vernon Canyon Club accommodated us for the EPC Round Robin last summer while Marshdale was closed for renovations.

Wulf pickleball hours reduced for upcoming week

Jeff Sweet advises that EPRD camp will be using both sides of the gym next week, so there will be no pickleball at Wulf between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, July 21, 22, 24 and 25. For more details, check the Wulf gym schedule.

Summer Slam Tournament set for Aug. 16

EPRD has scheduled a tournament for advanced (3.5+) players on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Marshdale. Two-player teams (mixed, male or female) will vie for prizes. Registration is open now. Cost is $40 per team; there is a three-game guarantee. Players must be 12 or older.
