Geezers & Dinkaroo
Tournament director Roger Miles has lined us up an exciting event - two tournaments in 1 day! Both tournaments take place Saturday, June 27th at Marshdale and are double round-robin. You can play in both if you meet the requirements. Geezers will run 8am to 10am with Dinkaroo following at 10am to noon.
Geezers
The Geezers is our annual tournament limited to participants 70 years of age or older. Age limit may drop over time if we can’t get 16 participants. Sign up on the EPRD site. (If the registration is asking you about a “partner” please ignore that. You are signing up just yourself for the tournament. If you’ve already signed up and mentioned a partner - only you are signed up.)
Roger will need volunteers for scorekeeping, to corral all the walkers, to yell out instructions to the hard of hearing, and youngins’ capable of bending over and picking up a ball. I kid! I kid! Please, no body bag retaliation.
Dinkaroo
The Dinkaroo is open to all players 12 and older. Again, register at EPRD and if it says anything about a “partner” ignore that. You’re signing up just yourself.
Dinkeroo is a modified form of pickleball in which play happens exclusively in the kitchen; every shot must land there. In previous years, EPC have had rallies of more than 70 hits. Great practice for your soft game. Honestly, it’s more exciting than it sounds!
