Women’s Tournament
Our final tournament of the year wrapped up last weekend. It was a day of pickleball, matching outfits, burgers, and a tiny bit of rain. Thanks to our volunteers who make this happen, thanks to Travis and Mt Vernon Canyon Club for hosting us, thanks to Kathy Kincannon for making all the burgers, and thanks to sisters & co whose sponsorship made the burgers and mimosas possible. Final big thanks to Roger Miles our tournament director for a successful first season of tournaments!
The ladies played an opening round robin to determine seedings for our final groups. Our overall champions where Gig Blitz and Linda Strauss. Kathyrn Cook & Gail Wilkes where the runners up for our top seeded tier. Our middle tier victors were Sima Ali & Deb Kelley while Claudia Lennox and Elizabeth Barmann were the victors of tier 3.
Tier one group - Linda Strauss, Kathryn Cook, Gail Wilkes, Kim Plotkin, Gig Blitz, Ann Mott, Karen Lyle, Gina Sharpe, Tiffany Venditti, and Taryn Young.
Tier 2 Group - Noell Jackson, Rebecca Rutherford, Dawn Satchell, Judy Black, Jen Mardosz and Karen Judy (or maybe the other way around, sorry ladies), Deb Kelley and Sima Ali.
Tier 3 - Claudia Lennox, Elizabeth Barmann, Lisa Bilgrave, Lolo, Jennifer Nunn, Megan McClintock, Kathleen Perry and Heather Larson (or maybe the other way around, sorry again.)
It’s all smiling faces before the matches start. Later they’ll be bitter enemies.

Linda and Gig are dumbstruck as a ball clearly in is called out.
Oh, they were playing Taryn. That makes sense. Gig continues to argue the call while Tiffany is in maximum extend-the-paddle so she can get off the court quickly.
Gina grimaces in pain that she and Karen managed matching hats, glasses and shirts but their skirts are not quite the same.
Lisa hits a return. Lolo could not care less.
A nameless, thankless cog looks on.
Judy and Dawn share post game congratulations with Karen and Jen. Or maybe Jen and Karen. Good thing this is a volunteer position or I’d be fired.
