Round Robin almost at capacity

If you want to play in the best-run tournament in the prettiest location with the finest food, you’d best hasten to claim one of the last spots available for the EPC Round Robin on June 7 at Marshdale. The number of openings is down to single digits.

Tournament director Mick Pearce set the deadline for registration at midnight Wednesday, June 4. Cost is $35. Entrants must have an EPC membership ($20).

Players will be seeded in groups of eight, rotating through a set of seven games, play to 11 win by one. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each group.

Please arrive early for the 8 a.m. start, and don’t forget you registered! We’re counting on you not to screw up the groups of eight. OK? If you’d like to volunteer to be a scorekeeper or support the tournament in another way, please email Mick Pearce.

Marshdale is great any day of the week, but especially this coming Saturday when the EPC Round Robin Tournament will occupy the courts in the morning and early afternoon.

A great time really was had by all

Pickleballers filled the main dining room and the covered outdoor patio at Genesee Pub & BBQ Tuesday evening for the annual Spring Fling, sponsored by Gig Blitz Homes. Gig, an EPC member, treated 65-plus revelers to music, a barbecue buffet, a drink and conversation.

An impressive gift basket was raffled off, with contents contributed by EPC social director Kathy Kincannon, Jerry Beth Owen and Evergreen Pickleball Club. Don Marshall was the lucky winner of court time at Epic Pickleball in Littleton, a coffee mug coveted by Julie Flint, EPC merch including a visor commandeered by his wife.

EPC President Bob Kerr thanked Gig for sponsoring the upcoming Mixed Doubles Tournament as well as the Spring Fling. He reminded everyone that Gig, a Coldwell Banker Realtor, would love to hear from you if you are thinking about buying or selling. She’ll be playing in the Round Robin again on Saturday (she won the top group last year), please take a moment to thank her for her support of local pickleball over the years.

Gary Rinedollar, Judy Black, “Miami” John Lang (hope that’s the right last name) and Scott Melle partake of a bountiful spread.

From left, Tamra Hall, Karen Loucks Rinedollar and Kim Hodenfield enjoy the patio.

Mick Pearce, Linda Jacobsen and Kathy Fasold yuk it up.

Party-goers are enthralled by President Kerr’s remarks, especially First Lady Debbie Kerr in the back.

Gig Blitz addresses the crowd as VP John Dunlop dutifully stands by.

Raffle tickets are safely cradled by Kathy Kincannon.

Sally Griggs makes the fateful choice . . . Don Marshall wins. He’s always inserting himself in this newsletter somehow.

Pickleball love exemplified by Jeff and Susan Dickenson. Anyone else thinking of Captain and Tennille right now?

You’ll find this visor and other EPC-branded merchandise in the EPC online store.
